PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Mark MULLER was born in Geneva in 1964 and received his law degree from the University of Geneva.

Before starting his training as a lawyer, he served as the head of the legal department of a public office in Geneva. He completed his internship as a lawyer in a Business Law Firm, then in the construction policy department of the former Public Works Department.

Having obtained his lawyer’s certificate in 1992, he worked in a real estate investment company, then became head of the legal department of the Geneva Real Estate Chamber and Geneva real estate professional associations.

In 1997, he was appointed Secretary General of the Geneva Real Estate Chamber and head of the real estate sector of the Federation of French-speaking Businesses.

His lobbying activity for home-owners led him to enter the world of politics. He was elected as a City Councillor for the City of Geneva in 1999, then as a Member of the Grand Council of Geneva in 2001.

In 2003, he joined the MO COSTABELLE PIRKL Law Firm as a partner.

Mark Muller was elected to the State Government in 2005, where he became head of the department of buildings and information technology.

As such, he is responsible for building permits, land use planning, public buildings (buildings and civil engineering works), housing and heritage protection. He also chairs the Real Estate Foundation for international organisations.

He chaired the State Government in 2011.

In 2012, he returned to the Bar as a partner in the DE LA GANDARA & ASSOCIÉS Law Firm.

In 2017, he founded the MULLER & FABJAN – Real Estate Law Firm with Maître Andreas Fabjan.

LANGUAGES

Mark MULLER speaks French and English and is happy to work in both languages. He also speaks German and Italian.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mark Muller is an Associate Judge at the Appeals Chamber for leases and rents of the Geneva Court of Justice.

He is also an extraordinary alternate member of the Agricultural Land Commission.

He is involved in the work of the College of Lawyers of Geneva real estate associations.

He regularly contributes to Cahiers du bail and the professional training seminars of CGI Conseils and the Professional Association of Real Estate Managers and Brokers (APGCI).

He writes a regular column for Tout l’immobilier.
